Marine Mountain Environmental Consultants Corporation (MMEC Corporation) is a proudly 100% black-owned corporation, established in 2018 as a subsidiary of Marine Mountain Environmental Consultants (Pty) Ltd. Our journey began with a visionary concept born from the Chief Director's environmental analysis efforts in certain regions. This led to the creation of a company focused on agri-business and the development of unused land into thriving agricultural landscapes. Today, we stand as a beacon of progress, with agreements in place with landowners producing fresh vegetables for the Gauteng and Limpopo areas.

MMEC Corporation recognizes the critical waste management challenges outlined in the National Waste Management Strategy (NWMS) within South Africa. These challenges, including a historical backlog of waste services and a lack of recycling infrastructure, continue to place pressure on outdated waste management systems. n response to these challenges, MMEC Corp is committed to playing a pivotal role in driving sustainable solutions. We view the recent launch of the Good Green Deeds Programme by President Ramaphosa as a significant step towards an integrated approach to addressing these issues.

Additionally, we acknowledge the broader socio-economic pressures stemming from high unemployment rates, particularly among youth and women. MMEC Corp is dedicated to addressing these challenges through strategic partnerships with municipalities and local communities. Through proposed partnerships with various district municipalities, MMEC Corp aims to establish Community-based Recycling Centres (CRCs) to clean up and recycle materials collected in socially derelict and polluted areas. These CRCs will empower informal street pickers and provide stable employment opportunities for unemployed youth and women while fostering the development of Small, Medium, and Micro-sized Enterprises (SMMEs).

Our objectives for this project are multifaceted, including environmental impact through cleaner communities and climate change mitigation, enterprise development through job creation and SMME empowerment, skills development through training and education, and social impact aimed at reducing crime, providing essential resources, and alleviating poverty. MMEC Corporation will collaborate with FMSA Waste Management & Recycling to facilitate the establishment of CRCs. Through these efforts, we aim to not only address waste management challenges but also contribute to socio-economic transformation and environmental sustainability in South Africa.
